Mission Training
Mission team members attended a training session on June 18. Mission Training informed team members of the mission goals, expectations, and cultural differences. Training allowed team members to get to know one another better and prepared them in activities planned for the mission. |
Mission Day 1
Weather: Sunny, high 80s F, high humidity Events: Travel to Thailand, Rehearsal, Concert News: Travel to Thailand took about 36 hours due to a plane change in South Korea and a 6 hour bus ride to our destination. We are staying at a hotel in Khon Kaen, a large city in Northeast Thailand. The hotel is nice with air conditioning and hot showers in each room. We arrived in Khon Kaen at 7am. Everyone was tired, so after a rest time, we rehearsed then held a concert in the afternoon at an orphanage. |

Weather: Hot, mostly very humid, breezes Events: Morning Concert, Afternoon Music Camp News: Today we traveled to a Christian School in Khon Kaen. In the morning, we held a concert for the school childern. In the afternoon, we held a music camp for the children interested in learning music. The music camp is a special opportunity for our NLF team and the Thailand children to share in teaching and learning musical instruments and singing. The school children have limited opportunities for learning music. The camp is a wonderful time of sharing the love of music one-on-one and in small groups with the school children. We returned to the hotel after 9:00 pm after spending all day at the school. |
Mission Day 3
Weather: Overcast, not as hot, very humid, cool breezes Events: All-day Music Camp News: Today was devoted to an all-day music camp at the Khon Kean Christian School. After a morning praise service, the NLF team conducted music lessons for school students interested in learning music. Following lunch and a 'free-time' break, the NLF team conducted and arts-and-crafts session for all students. This was followed by more music lessons. Then the big treat for everyone arrived: Pizza and Coke! Camp events ended with a joint activity session conducted by school leaders. The NLF team ended the day with a praise session at the hotel. |

Later in the evening, we had dinner and went on a shopping trip at a local marketplace. |

Several student members of the USA team provided music instruction for student members of the Korean team. A huge thrill was watching some older members of the Korean team providing individual instruction to younger members of the Korean team -- this made me realize how far NLF has come pursuing its dream. The day ended with a worship service... and more rehearsal... and Pizza and Chicken Wings! |
Mission Day 11
Weather: Sunny, hot in Seoul Events: Sunday Church Service, Lunch, Concert, Good-byes News: Today is our last day of mission. We started the day with a church service in Seoul.
